Artie, Norman, and Willie

Artie, Norman, and Willie

These three are the first batch of bandits from Wild Bill’s gang.

Artie has a gold corner tooth and laughs like a hyena. He is by far the most annoying of the group, but also happens to be the brightest.

Willie is a creep. Plain and simple. He has black, stringy-hair and spends the majority of his time searching for worms in the ground or picking his nose. He loves Sylvester, but despises Adam.

Norman is built like a statue. He laughs in a low, monotone voice.”Haugh, haugh, haugh.” He doesn’t say much else.

Wild Bill

Wild Bill

Wild Bill is by far the most menacing of all his bandits. He carries with him an 11 inch Belgium pacifier. The sawed-off shotgun is attached to a shoulder sling, and lining the interior of his black coat are steel hacksaw blades.

He was the father figure to my main character Michael, influencing him into committing both the Bandit Beach Massacre and the Slave Owner Slaughter.

Wild John

Wild John

We don’t get to meet Wild John until nearing the end of, “Way of the World,” but he is an intriguing character, to say the least. Michael meets John in the middle of the desert, and the stubbly-bearded man is wearing no clothes.

That’s right, he’s absolutely naked.

Michael inquires as to why, and the response strangely alludes to his connection with divine forces. Wild John goes on to say Michael is ‘from above’, to which Michael dismisses quite easily.

Obviously, being a ruthless murderer throughout his childhood makes it easy for Michael to be know that he is no angel.

Wild John leaves Michael with the curious words, “I have to make straight the way for the promise.”

Michael shrugs, and leaves the naked man with a potato sack to use for some pants.

Evelynn

Evelynn

Evelynn has apple-green eyes and a perfect figure. She causes Adam to lose his breath at first sight, and affects him to such a degree he becomes reckless in his pursuit to court her. Curiously, she looks outstandingly similar to ‘Hope Iden’, the star actress in Gnashing’s biggest play. Benny and Crank, however, insist that Evelynn and Hope Iden are not the same person.

Marshal Paul

Marshal Paul

Marshal Paul IS law enforcement in Gnashing. He chases Michael out of Gnashing the very first day he arrives. Though he claims only justice, his actions constantly tend to go against the wrong people. He chews and spits tobacco quite often, and is hardly shy to pull the trigger. He looks out for the well-being of his town, and is unafraid make any lawbreakers uncomfortable by doing so.

Isabelle and Rusty Sandelion

Isabelle and Rusty Sandelion

Isabelle is a sweet-heart. She works at the ‘El Crappo Inn’ and greets Adam shortly after he first arrives. She plans to marry Rusty, but does not behave as if she is completely taken. Rusty, on the other hand, is a rancher who is quick to pounce and slow to think. He jumps to conclusions very quickly, and rather than smoking any cigarettes, he prefers to constantly chomp on carrots. His hair is orange and fluffed up at the front.

The Upscale Saloon

The Upscale Saloon

The Upscale Saloon is a popular place for Gnashing’s elite residents. It is frequented by Mayor Dunlap, who just so happens to be the angry man to Evelynn’s right in the scene. Adam, one of two main characters in my novel, “Way of the World,” is holding her hand in his. Undoubtedly, the young man is chasing after a new lover for the night.

Benny and Crank are the two henchmen working for Adam. They are the best of friends, despite Benny’s tendency for pummeling heads, he really is a just big dumb oaf with a pure heart. The two of them prefer petty crimes, and really find themselves in over their heads when they meet Wild Bill and his gang of true criminals.

David

David

David is a farm laborer, also known as a ‘hired hand.’ He is best friends with Michael, the main character in my novel, “Way of the World.” He nicknames Michael ‘Strange’ and constantly brings him to shake his head with the things he says. Even with all his horse-play, at the end of the day David is a warrior, and defends Michael in an epic battle with the monstrous Goliat.

Semos and Mr. Hubblefurd
